How we star up our reviews

1 star (poor, pitiful, appalling, atrocious, inexcusable): Total pants, this product sucks and is very poor. It should be recycled and turned into that sticky stuff that they put on the back of stamps where at least it would do some good.

2 stars (mediocre, second-rate, just average): There are a number of things that make this product slightly interesting, but they are in the minority. Think long and hard about it before parting with your money.

3 stars (good, decent, fine, above average): This product makes the grade and is satisfactory. If it is what you are looking for you should investigate more. But I would recommend getting a hands-on demo to convince yourself.

4 stars (great, first-rate, excellent, amazing, brilliant): We are now in serious product land. This product really kicks. It flew through the review with flying colours. A firm distinction in our grading system. It is safe to say that you could buy this product blind and you will be extremely pleased with it when it turns up.

5 stars (outstanding, exceptional, sheer brilliance, perfection, pure genius): This is quite simply the holy grail of products and deserves a place on a unique pedestal in the temple of genius. If you ever meet the individual or any member of the company responsible for putting this together you should immediately drop to your knees, bow down and pat the floor with the palms of your hands using large swooping arm movements (think Wayne's World here), then kiss the master's feet and shed a tear in total admiration and appreciation for their genius. Or if you happen to know the person, simply genuflect.

Features - Controls.
Functionality - Usability.
Cost of Ownership i.e. tapes/media cards/servicing costs etc.
